Check out some of my favorite people, places and things.  Click on the pictures and it will take you to their websites.

m

My friend Joe Metzka who is one of the best rhythm, blues and jazz guitarists in Downstate Illinois...probably upstate, too.

Cassie & Kevin Hart.  What can't Kevin play & play very well?  Piano, drums and probably one of the best Vibraphone artists anywhere.  I'm sure there are more that he doesn't divulge.  Always a pleasure to listen to Kev.  When Cassie isn't advising me on html coding and dealing with html coding, she is a sax player in the Central Illinois jazz scene, has a writing business and contributes articles to the local Jazz Society newsletter.

Unique & custom designed jewelry by Cherie Moery-Metzka

David Hoffman was the trumpet soloist in the Ray Charles Orchestra for 13 years.  Dave now lives in the Peoria area and plays frequently in the area.  How fortunate are we to have one of the world's premier jazz trumpet players playing in Peoria?  Dave's style, tone, intonation and flair are unsurpassed.

Singer-Songwriter Erin Ivey.  Intriguing lyrics, hyptnotic melodies and a mezmerizing voice.

Chris Schlesinger:  fellow CIA alumni, owner of the East Coast Grill in Cambridge, MA and author of my favorite cookbook "The Thrill of the Grill".  "There are three elements to proper grilling:  a good fire, a grill brush & a cold beer".

Chef Bill Turney owns a very nice cooking facility offering an array of demonstration style classes and hands on cooking classes.  He has recently added a bakeshop.

My Alma Mater:  The Culinary Institute of America.  “It’s the best culinary school in the world.” Paul Bocuse, world-renowned Michelin 3 Star French Chef owner of l'Auberge du Pont de Collonges in Lyon, France.

My Sam Adams haven, occasional cooking outlet and some of the best jazz in Peoria on Tuesday & Thursday night and happy hour jazz on Friday nights from 5-ish to 7:30 ish.  Where else can you get 5 different flavors of Gelato in Peoria?

Willett's Winery & Cellar in Manito, IL.  Dan & Cris have done a phenomenal job restoring a 19th Century building into a state of the art winery and tasting room.  Check them out some weekend!!

Shelley has an eclectic little joint that has been the mainstay of Water Street.  Throw in some food you won't find anywhere in Peoria, live music and a fun staff (shout out to Steph & A.B.), what more do ya want?

Dr. Blair Hunt keeps those uncooperative upper back & neck vertebrae of mine in line so I can feel my fingers.  Afraid to go to a chiropractor like I was?  Don't be...Doc Blair is "da bomb".

My Knives.  Love J.A. Henckels 4-Star Knives.  Yeah, they may have changed how they make them, but the blades are the same steel as always and they are blistering sharp!

Sam found me while I was a student at the CIA.  We are still friends today.

Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande.  Better know as Pichon Lalande.  Wtihout a doubt my favorite wine.  However, I only get to enjoy it about once a year as it has a lofty price tag.
